Aning – On infantile sexuality, sexual abuse, and sexual trauma

20 november 2019 | 19:00

This is the fourth and ambitious part of ”Psykoanalytisk salong – Sexualitet*5”. It´s for those who desire psychoanalytic and existential explorations into topics of love, sexuality, the voice etc. In this lecture lecturer will be in continuous artistic dialogue with a performance artist. Most welcome.

(For those that desire even more we recommend that you take a look at Aning Hardcore: https://www.kulturcentralen.nu/evenemang/an-introduction-to-jean-laplanche-s )

When Freud gave up his theory of seduction he didn’t invent sexuality – he discovered it. He realized that sexuality not only approaches the child from the adult other as a perverse seduction but that the child itself holds drives and fantasies that can be called sexual. While Freud from then on focused on the inner world of the child and on an infantile sexuality that first and foremost was autoerotic, Laplanche emphasizes that sexuality always comes to the child from the real adult, the child’s primal caretaker. How can Laplanche’s theory of the sexual help us understand the development of sexuality, both when the child is seduced by love and respect, but also when the seduction is perverse, leaving no room for the child’s meaning making translations?

The lecture will be in continuous dialogue with the artist Henrik Vestergaard. In 2002 he created an alter ego – Der Gerüstbauficker – that got turned on by scaffoldings in order to examine to what extent you can construct your own sexuality. As a starting point for the performance he will meditate on this and then move on to an artistic dialogue with the subject of the lecture.
Henrik Vestergaard has been working with performance art since 1996 and is at the present CEO at Live Art Denmark.
Katrine Zeuten is a psychoanalyst and associate professor in psychology at the University of Copenhagen.

The lecture will be in english.
